The body of Abraham Lincoln was lying in state. He had been murdered in Washington, D.C., and his body was being taken back to Springfield, Illinois.
Throngs lined up to view the remains. In the line was a poor black woman, carrying her four-year-old son. When they reached the president’s body, the woman lifted her son up in the air, and said, "Honey, take a good long look. That man there, he died for you."
When Saint Augustine was asked, ‘What does love look like?’ his answer was simple:

When Napoleon was sentenced to exile on the island of Saint Helena, an English newspaper opined that this military genius would sooner kill himself than be exiled. Napoleon heard the comment and said, "I believe suicide is the most abominable of all crimes, and I cannot find any reason for its justification. It’s a coward’s crime. How can a man call himself brave if he cannot bear life’s ups and downs? True heroism consists in facing adverse fortune, however great it might be, and being able to meet the challenge."
